Filip Goddevriendt

Filip Goddevriendt is a partner at Agio Legal and specialises in tax law and corporate law. He has extensive experience in tax law, both in direct and indirect taxation (VAT and registration duties), as well as in corporate and non-profit law. He assists his clients (mainly real estate companies, family holdings and non-profit organisations) in the day-to-day management of their activities, their reorganisations, their acquisitions, as well as in their contacts with the tax authorities. He also defends their interests before the courts. Filip also focuses on alternative dispute resolution (international mediation, arbitration and collaborative proceedings). In addition to his extensive practice work, Filip has numerous publications to his name and is co-author of the tax handbook “L’essentiel du droit fiscal”, Academic Scientific Publishers, Brussels. He also chairs the steering committee of the “Fund for Start-Ups”, an initiative of the King Baudouin Foundation.
 
Diplomas and courses
Filip received his JD (cum laude) from the University of Leuven (Belgium) in 1999 and obtained an LLM at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (magna cum laude) and an Advanced Master in Business law (DEA) at the Sorbonne (magna cum laude) in 2000. (DEA) at the Sorbonne (magna cum laude) in 2000. He also graduated successfully with a Postgraduate in Mediation at KU Leuven (2017) and is a certified arbitrator (AIA BrusselsSchool of Arbitration). Filip is also a recognised mediator in family law and a certified collaborative lawyer. He has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 2000.
 
Work experience Filip is a recognised mediator, certified arbitrator and recognised collaborative lawyer. He is a guest lecturer on GDPR at Erasmus University College Brussels (Leuven Campus). He is also a board member of several non-profit organisations.
